Bowman, ND, February 10, 2023. The Bowman Parks and Recreation Board announces improvements to the baseball/ softball complex are coming soon to encourage play, improve safety, and add other activities. A Master Plan was developed in 2019 and improvements have been added to the complex each year. This past summer Chanell Walby, Director of Bowman Parks and Recreation wrote a grant application through the North Dakota Park and Recreation Department. Included in the grant request:

1. Add lighting to fields

2. Re-grade and top dress infields

3. Light the walking path around James Field

4. Add fence toppers and replace worn fencing

5. Add playground

The upgrades will improve safety, accommodate playing times due to rain or daylight loss, and will add more activities to the complex. The project meets the SCORP requirements of the ND State Park and Recreation Department for Region 8. The updates to the complex will serve baseball and softball players, families and guests, and the citizens who come to walk on the path and play in the playground. Guests traveling through Bowman will see the attractive park atmosphere and stop to stretch their legs, run their dog at the dog park, and enjoy a break from traveling. Bowman is a hub for the tri-state region, it is located directly between the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the Black Hills of South Dakota, being a premium stopping point for travelers. We are excited to keep people in North Dakota by offering an attractive complex located directly on highway 85 that will draw in visitors to stop and spend time in North Dakota.

The Bowman Parks and Recreation Board is very pleased to announce the Park District was awarded a $265,000 three-year grant toward the $530,000 project. “We would like to thank the Bowman Baseball Booster Club for their support by providing $10,000 for the project, and most recently the Bowman/Slope Community Foundation also awarded the Park District $15,000 to go toward the project. “I would like to thank one member of our community directly for her vision and support. Jeanine Clendenen has been wonderful to work with, representing both the baseball booster board and the foundation board. It is so great to see the passion our community members have for growing baseball and softball and improving our facilities,” stated Walby.

Bowman Parks and Recreation mission is to serve the wellness and recreational needs of our tri state area by providing community facilities and progressive programs across the generations.
