Night Hawks look for wins on the road


Hettinger-Scranton will be looking for its first regional wins on the road.

The boy’s basketball team went to Beulah (Jan. 10), then will go to Dickinson to battle the Trinity Titans (Jan. 17).

In between, the Night Hawks will travel to Buffalo to face the Harding County Ranchers (Jan. 12).

The team’s first home game of 2023 will be Jan. 21 when Hazen comes to Hettinger.

The second “home” game of the year will be Jan. 27 when the Richardton-Taylor Raiders come to town. It will be Feb. 7 when Killdeer visits Scranton and the final game in Scranton will be against Grant County/ Mott-Regent (Feb. 16).

In December, the Night Hawks lost to Beach in the opening round of the Roughrider Basketball tournament, then beat Richardton-Taylor (53- 28) before losing to Heart River on New Year’s Eve by a 51-42 margin.

Going into the 2023 portion of the season, the Night Hawks had a 2-4 overall record, with a win over Napoleon/G-S Imperials (51-49) and losses to Lintin/ HMB (62-31) and Standing Rock Community (65-50).
